    2012: The economic crisis made more victims, with 26 million Europeans out of work, 23.4% youth unemployment and 120 million people at risk of poverty and social exclusion. 

    Social Platform focused on trying to revert the trends by requesting the inclusion of a Social Pact in EU economic policies, supporting the creation of quality employment, and enabling the development of social services and social enterprises.


  • 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family
  •  EFOMW has signed the Declaration of the civil society on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family

     


    This
    declaration urges the United Nations to support  families,  as central actors  for social and economical development.  It will be presented at the « Commission for Social Development » in New York in February 2014 to celebrate the Anniversary of the International Year of the Family. We hope its content will serve partly at drawing a resolution at UN’s General Assembly.

  • Racism in Europe - ENAR Shadow Report 2011-12
  • The last Shadow Report on Racism in Europe of the European Network against Racism (ENAR) has a special focus on the specific situation of Muslims in Europe, including incidences of Islamophobia and discrimination on the basis of religion and belief. This first pan-European qualitative survey highlights that Islamophobia is widespread throughout Europe and discrimination against Muslims particularly affect girls and women, because  of treatment towards them due to their attire.

  • EFOMW participated in the European Year of Citizens 2013 launch in Brussels
  • On 23-24 January,  The European Economic and Social Committee launched the European Year of Citizens and held an Open Space event in Brussels to explore future pathways of active European citizenship. Participants proposed themselves a list of topics to be discussed in workshops. They were also invited to come up with new creative solution.

    The results have been published online.


  • EFOMW is member of the European Year of Citizens Alliance
  • In order to mark the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the European Union Citizenship under the Maastricht Treaty in 1993, 2013 has been designated as the "European Year of Citizens". The European Forum of Muslim Women joined the  European Year of Citizens Alliance (EYCA) to defend a participatory, inclusive and active citizenship.
