  • Muslim Women: Victims of Islamophobia in Europe
  • In the beginning of this article I will refer to some incident that happened recently in Europe

In France, the Collectif contre l’Islamophobie en France (the collective group against islamophia in France) has drawn attention to several Islamophobic assaults on veiled women, most recently “A 29-year old Muslim woman was attacked in the open street in Basel (Switzerland) by an unidentified woman with blows to the back of the neck and insulting remarks about her dress. The victim was wearing black and an Islamic veil”. there is another more tragic occurrence: in July 2009 in Dresden (Germany), Marwa el-Sherbini, an Egyptian (who was 3 months pregnant at the hearing time), wearing a veil, was verbally attacked in a kindergarten by an unemployed man from Russia, called a “terrorist” and “Islamist slut”, then, at the hearing to appeal the culprit’s conviction, was stabbed 18 times in the sight of her three year old son, this crime has actually received little media exposure.

  • Results of the "Survey of Mothers in Europe
  • Message of MMM Europe Team : We have the great pleasure to unveil the results of the « Survey of Mothers in Europe » which some of you have kindly helped promote last year. As partner in the FAMILY PLATFORM (www.familyplatform.eu),
MMM Europe had the objective to survey Europe's mothers to discover and voice the realities, concerns and opinions about their wellbeing and their families. 11,000 mothers have responded.
We summarized their messages in a brochure called « What Matters to Mothers in Europe » (downloadable here :
English ) that was sent to more than 700 Members of European Parliament. A press release is being sent TODAY to over 10,000 journalists in Europe and worldwide, so check out the news.

We invite you to share with your local politicians, press contacts, and others the messages from this survey that you deem important. By relaying the voices of mothers, we can all help society evolve in a better way.
If you would like to contact us, don't hesitate to do so at

  • Amnesty International France against the bill banning the concealment of the face in public space
  • Click here to read the release (in french) of June 30, 2010 by Patrick Delouvin, Director of Amnesty International France Pole

With this release, Amnesty International France asked to dismiss the bill providing for the general prohibition of concealment of the face in public space. This bill was considered before the National Assembly and adopted July 13, 2010.

This release fairly explicit reasons for the veil would not be banned in public places, not only because this law is not helpful (particularly in terms of "security" or to "defend women's rights "), but also because it goes against international law and European human rights. These arguments are not religious and we agree.

  • “EUROPEAN SURVEY of MOTHERS”
  • In the context of partnership and cooperation with the association "World Movement of Mothers of Europe", the EFOMW sees some interest that all mothers can participate in this survey "European Survey of Mothers" launched by the World Movement of Mothers Europe to give your opinion about your welfare and your family.
