  • Amnesty International France against the bill banning the concealment of the face in public space

    With this release, Amnesty International France asked to dismiss the bill providing for the general prohibition of concealment of the face in public space. This bill was considered before the National Assembly and adopted July 13, 2010.

    This release fairly explicit reasons for the veil would not be banned in public places, not only because this law is not helpful (particularly in terms of "security" or to "defend women's rights "), but also because it goes against international law and European human rights. These arguments are not religious and we agree.
